Hugh's goal as tennis director is to create a fun environment for all members. He wants each and every member to feel welcome and excited when they come to the club. He works hard to provide the finest instructional programming, leagues and tournaments so that everyone can enjoy this great sport for life.

Hugh has taught for over 30 years in Santa Barbara and has developed players of all levels and ages. He has coached many local high school players, as well as sectional and nationally  ranked players.  Both his daughters played high level junior, high school and college tennis. His daughter Lauren is the top player at Westmont college, currently ranked #3 in the nation in singles and #2 in doubles and achieved a WTA world ranking in doubles last Fall.

He has also helped many men and women of all ages and levels get in the game and improve their tennis. He believes that tennis is a great sport that teaches us about sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity, perseverance and problem solving. It's a great way to meet people and get great exercise!
