Sandy Garred

Santa Barbara artist, Sandy Garred paints in oil and pastels. Her interesting choice of subject matter and close attention to shadows and light helps capture the feeling and emotion of her subjects, and as a result, lends to her being well received by artists and collectors alike.

Sandy has recently been selected to paint the Santa Barbara Fiesta Stock Horse Show and Rodeo poster for 2012 and was awarded the prestigious William T. Colville Foundation grant to further her studies.

Tom de Walt, Contemporary Realist
Tom de Walt's paintings are inexorably infused with his love of nature, his lifelong passion for surfing and his adoration for the coast.

For 28 years de Walt lived and painted at the Hollister Ranch, a pristine coastal tract of nearly 15,000 acres in Santa Barbara county. During this extended exposure his paintings evolved to a point where the viewer feels transported to these places of allure.

Mehosh Dziadzio
The photographs on exhibit represent an ongoing project which which portrays the life of the cowboy, on some of the last remaining cattle ranches in Santa Barbara County. As development threatens the Central Coast I was compelled to document this vanishing enterprise.

Because of it's geographical location, the Central Coast has always been well suited for cattle ranching. Hollister Ranch in particular has been a working cattle ranch wince the original grazing lease was awarded to Jose Francisco Ortega in 1791. On these ranches the western heritage is still preserved. Cowboys and cowgirls on horses, and good cattle dogs, are still the best means of moving cattle.

Heading out on horseback, pre-dawn, cameras in tow, I was offered a unique view of this timeless lifestyle. The cowboys and cowgirls encountered along the way were some of the most genuine people I ever met, welcome me to their world without reservation. It is my hope that I have succeeded in sharing their spirit and my experience through these images.
